Sentencing Trends & Issues 37

One of the functions of the Judicial Commission is to ?disseminate information and reports on sentences imposed by courts?. This Trends reports on the 20 most common offences proven in the Local Court of NSW for the calendar year 2007. It also provides a descriptive analysis of how the various sentencing options available to the court were used to deal with the most common offences. Where appropriate, comparisons are drawn with findings made in previous studies on this topic for the years 2002 and 1992. The paper provides a useful summary of contemporary sentencing practices in the Local Court.

The Judicial Commission is unable to accept credit card payments by fax, mail or phone. Only online credit card payments will be accepted.
