Aboriginal culture in NSW is uniquely tied to the land and should come as no surprprise to find that salinity, in degrading the land, is a source of anxiety to Aboriginal people. Living Land, Living Culture is the first study to lay before us in detail the impact that salinity is having on Aboriginal heritage in NSW and to offer options for remediating this impact. It is sobering to read the personal testimonies of Aboriganal people in the Wellington area, for example, who speak of their sadness at what salinity is doing to the land they grew up in, the rivers they have fished in, the native plants they have relied on.
